Meadville junior Abby Weagraff notched a new school record in the pole vault when she recorded a height of 8-feet, 7-inches to win the event as the Lady Bulldogs track and field team defeated Villa Maria 103-47 on Tuesday at the Barco-Duratz Athletic Complex.
The Meadville boys team had some outstanding individual performances as well, but still fell to visiting Cathedral Prep 100-50.
Apart from Weagraff’s record-breaker, the Lady Bulldogs were also led by Jordan Lynn, who won three individual events, claiming first in the 100 hurdles (17.31), the 300 hurdles (51.99) and the triple jump (32-5).
Kendell Dickson put forth a pair of winning efforts in the high jump (4-7) and the long jump 15-2 1/2). Cadi McCoy was a double winner in the shot put (28-8) and the javelin (95-4).
Abbey Peters added a victory in he 800-meter run (2:34.10). And Emily Allen led the way in the discus (94-1).
For the Meadville boys team, Drake Parker collected a pair of first-place finishes. He was fastest in the 110 high hurdles (18.65) and the highest in the high jump (5-7).
Louis McUmber added a win in the 1,600-meter run (4:58.16). Matt Svetz claimed the top spot in the 3,200 (10:32.82). And Daniel Gawne led the way in the pole vault (11-6).
Eagles sweep Orioles
LINESVILLE — The Conneaut boys volleyball team finally put a notch in the win column thanks to a 25-16, 25-18, 25-19 Region 1 victory over Rocky Grove on Tuesday.
Seth Dugan finished with 23 assists, four blocks and five kills to pace the Eagles (1-6, 1-3 Region 1). Zac Blore tallied eight kills and 16 points, while Mike Sperry added 10 points and five kills. Brett White and Justin Ledford contributed eight kills and eight digs, respectively.
The loss drops the Orioles to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in the region.
