WATTSBURG — The Saegertown golf team captured its eighth consecutive Region 3 title on Wednesday with its mega match win at Scenic Heights Golf Course.

Andy Hasychak led the Panthers with a 79. Nick Archacki carded an 82 and Dylan Flinchbaugh finished with an 85.

“I just felt we performed above my expectations this year,” Saegertown coach Brian Hanley said. “The boys seemed to motivate each other and practiced together on the weekend. Andy Hasychak was a great leader and seemed to rally the boys together and got them playing extra golf. That’s what a good leader does.”

As the Region 3 champions, the Panthers will compete in the District 10 team championships on Oct. 4 at The Country Club of Meadville. In addition, Flinchbaugh and Archacki will represent Saegertown at the individual championships Oct. 3 and 5 at The Country Club.

The final region mega match was a good one with the top four teams separated by just three strokes.

Saegertown finished with 336 total followed by Conneaut and Cambridge Springs with 338 each. Union City was fourth with 339.

Hasychak shared medalist honors with Conneaut’s Jordan Vaughn, who also shot 79. Next was Cambridge Springs’ Lance Welker with an 80. Union City’s Cole DeSimone finished with an 82, as did Conneaut’s Alex Wiles.
