Down at Slippery Rock University’s Mihalik-Thompson Stadium, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference will crown a new champion today.

Slippery Rock puts its eight-game win streak to the test against undefeated West Chester in the PSAC Championship this afternoon. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

These two esteemed programs are getting used to the PSAC Championship. They’ve met in the title game a record seven times. This is the first time The Rock and the Golden Rams have met in the championship since 2015. Slippery Rock dominated that game 61-12.

Slippery Rock’s top wide receiver is former Conneaut Area standout Henry Litwin. He’s the team leader in catches (37) and receiving yards (617). He’s also caught six touchdown passes. 

Passing the ball to Litwin is Roland Rivers III. He’s 144-for-235 for 1,987 yards. Rivers III has 21 touchdowns and six interceptions this season.

Wes Hills is the top rusher for The Rock. Hills gained 1,113 yards on 147 attempts. He’s reached pay dirt 12 times. Rivers III adds 437 yards and seven touchdowns from the

quarterback spot.

West Chester also has a stellar offense led by quarterback A.J. Long. Long’s completed 67 percent of his passes with 18 TDs and six INTs. He’s also gained 557 yards on the ground and six rushing scores.

Mark Dukes leads the team in rushing with 636 yards and six TDs. Mike Class holds the team lead with eight rushing touchdowns.

Lex Rosario is the top pass-catcher for the Golden Rams. He’s reeled in 44 passes for 640 yards and three TDs. Rasheem James has seven receiving TDs with 376 yards.

Linebackers Nate Barnes and Tyler Morrissey anchor the West Chester defense. Both players have 64 tackles this season.

The friendly confines of Mihalik-Thompson Stadium could prove critical to The Rock’s success today. Slippery Rock is 6-1 at home against West Chester.
