On Tuesday night at Ed Acker Field, FCV beat Corry 18-9 in Crawford-Venango League U19 baseball.
“I think that they are finally finding their individual approaches and they’re confident in their approaches,” FCV head coach Adam Bronson said.
FCV got off to a great start at the plate with a big six-run first inning. Dawson Bartholomew started things with a double and Trent Wheeler followed with an RBI triple. Walker Cunningham added an RBI single and later in the inning Hank Shaffer scored two batters with a double.

Corry answered immediately with six runs of its own utilizing a pair of hits and six walks. Jaden Grubbs was able to get FCV out of the inning with a fly ball.
From then on though it was all FCV. In the bottom of the third, the Gators regained the lead. Shaffer walked to start the inning and Asa Henderson followed with a base knock. Ryan Sherry had an RBI single to score Shaffer and Henderson trotted home after a Chance Hoehn flyout.
After Corry got one back to make it 8-7, FCV answered with four more tallies in the bottom of the fourth.
Cunningham led off with a double and scored off a Shaffer single. Grubbs reached on a single and scored off a base hit from Henderson. Shaffer and Henderson both scored when Bartholomew launched a shot into left field to make it 12-7.
After Corry made it 12-9, FCV iced it with another five run barrage highlighted by a Bartholomew RBI double and a Sherry RBI single. Corry made a pair of errors and allowed an RBI hit-by-pitch for Peyton Crays.
“We were able to make that crooked inning in the first inning and tack on in the second, third and fourth and then keep put pressure on (Corry),” Bronson said.
Grubbs got the win in relief for FCV in three innings of work with three earned runs and four hits.
At the plate, Bartholomew went 4-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs with two doubles. Sherry went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and one run. Cunningham was 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI and Shaffer scored four runs off two hits with three RBIs. FCV had five extra-base hits.
For Corry, Nick Brundage led the way with a 2-for-3 outing with three RBIs and two runs. Nate Lesher went 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
