STONEBORO — Farrell maintained its top spot in Region 2 with a 45-38 road win at Lakeview on Tuesday night.
After a slow start, Farrell worked back to a 21-18 halftime lead. From there, the Steelers held Lakeview at bay.
Eric Hopson led all scorers with 16 points. Brian Hilton added 11 points.
For Lakeview, Cole Thiec hit three 3-pointers and led the Sailors with 13 points. Hunter Miller tallied eight points. Brett Beith and Anthony Grim each scored six in the loss.
Devils roll Ike
CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS — Cambridge Springs jumped out to a 19-5 lead after one quarter on its way to a 59-35 win over Eisenhower on Tuesday in Region 3 boys basketball action.
Lance Welker paced the Blue Devils (10-2, 5-0 Region 3) with 19 points, including three 3-pointers. Trent Wheeler and Nathan Held added eight points each.
Jared Martone had a team-high 13 points for Eisenhower (3-8, 1-4).
Cards upend Bears
UNION CITY — A big third-quarter burst helped Cochranton notch its second of the season as the Cardinals upended Union City 54-49 in Region 3 boys basketball action on Tuesday.
The Cardinals (2-10, 2-3 Region 3) had a two-point (25-23) lead at halftime. Cochranton extended that lead with a 19-9 advantage in the third frame.
Franklin Morris led a trio of Cardinals in double figures with 10 points. Jon Gallo added 11 points and Justin Wagner finished with 10 points. All three of those players had a pair of 3-pointers each.
Matthew Bennett led the way for Union City (6-8, 3-3) with 16 points. Jamon Higley had 10 markers.
Eagles claw Cats
YOUNGSVILLE — Gage Hendrickson and Timber Bower scored 20 points each to lead Youngsville to a 60-47 win over Saegertown in Region 3 boys basketball action on Tuesday.
Logan Ingram led the Panthers (5-6, 1-4 Region 3) with 13 points, while Max Fuller chipped in with 11 points.
Youngsville improved to 11-3 overall and 4-1 in Region 3.
Bison out-duel Bears
WATERFORD — Forfeits proved costly for Union City as it fell to Fort LeBoeuf 51-22 on Tuesday in non-region wrestling action.
The Bison (6-1) were recipients of four forfeit wins and also recorded four falls in the win.
Picking up wins for Union City (2-10) were: Austin Dolan with a major decision at 126 pounds; James Leyda with a decision at 132 pounds; Kyle Myers with a fall at 145 pounds; and Nick Kaday with a decision at 170 pounds.
