HADLEY — Jamestown picked up its second region win of the season on Wednesday as the Muskies rolled to a 42-18 win over Commodore Perry in Region 2 wrestling action.
The Muskies earned victories in all five contested bouts against the Panthers and also picked up three forfeit wins. Seth Renwick won a 6-0 decision over Hunter Geibel at 113 pounds. Chase McLaughlin followed with a 16-second pin at 120 pounds. Also earning wins for the Muskies were: Jed Goodlin with a decision at 182 pounds; and Hunter Cowher and Collin Wilson with falls at 195 and 220 pounds, respectively.
Bears beat Eagles
UNION CITY — Six matches were forfeits. The other 11 were all won by fall, as Union City picked up a quick 42-24 win over Region 3 opponent Youngsville on Wednesday.
Getting pins for the Bears (3-10, 3-3 Region 3) were Austin Dolan at 126; Kyle Myers at 145; Parker Barto at 160; Nick Kaday at 170; and Marshall Van Tassel at 195.
Tigers upend Sailors
STONEBORO — It wasn’t quite as lopsided as the 56-12 win that Sharon posted over Lakeview at the South Side Beaver Duals earlier this month. But it was a win for the Tigers all the same, as they defeated the Sailors 33-22 in a Region 1 match on Wednesday.
Among the wins for Lakeview (2-10, 0-6 Region 1) were pins by Trevn Schaffer at 152 and Isaac DeVault at 220. Ryan O’Polka added an 11-1 major decision over Eli Buck at 138.
Greco leads Panthers
SAEGERTOWN — Brady Greco had a 15-point, 10-assist double-double to lead Saegertown to a 44-28 win over Commodore Perry in non-region boys basketball action.
Jaden Wilkins chipped in with eight points and 10 rebounds for the Panthers. Max Fuller also scored eight points.
Hunter Artman led Commodore Perry with 20 points.
Eagles ground Rockets
SLIPPERY ROCK — From Tuesday, Conneaut Area kept up its winning ways with a 66-54 win over Region 5 opponent Slippery Rock in a boys basketball game at Slippery Rock High School.
The Eagles have won three straight games to improve to 6-7 overall and 3-5 in Region 5. Slippery Rock falls to 1-13 on the season and 0-8 in region.
CASH stormed out to a 39-25 lead at halftime and the Rockets just couldn’t catch up.
Roman DeMarco led the Eagles with 17 points on the night. Mason Kroniser contributed 13 and Tanner Niemann added 11.
Slippery Rock was led by Judah Roth with 22 points. Jack Allen recorded 11 points in the loss.
