WATERFORD — Meadville picked up a big non-region win on Wednesday, sweeping past previously unbeaten Fort LeBoeuf 25-21, 25-18, 25-21 in girls volleyball action.
Mia Soerensen led the Bulldogs’ offense with 10 kills. Jillian Decker, who finished with 30 assists, found several other weapons at the net.
Lucy Smith returned after missing two games to tally six kills and seven digs for Meadville. Jordan Graham also had six kills and seven digs. Kasey Smith contributed four kills.
Defensively, Alexis Holt led the way with eight digs, while Hannah Parks chipped in with five.
Meadville returns to action today at home against Region 4 rival Grove City.
Owls topple Bulldogs
BRADFORD — Meadville suffered a 7-1 loss to Bradford on Wednesday in Region 6 girls soccer action.
“Bradford is a much-improved squad, and we made them even look better,” Meadville coach Jim Miller said. “The Lady ’Dogs went from defending wonderfully against Hickory Monday night to absolutely horrible defending all over the field.
“We were not approaching the ball. Bradford was out-hustling us and plain and simple we got our butts kicked.”
Liz Adams scored the goal for Meadville on an assist from Addie Phillis. Meadville is now 3-2 overall and 2-2 in Region 6.
Eagles, Knights suspended
LINESVILLE — Wednesday’s non-region soccer game between Eisenhower and Conneaut was suspended at halftime due to weather.
Ike gets the 1-0 win. Patricia Bortz scored the goal for Eisenhower.
