WARREN — The Meadville girls soccer team’s “revenge tour” claimed another victim on Wednesday.

Liz Adams scored with roughly 10 minutes left in the first half as Meadville upended Warren 1-0 in Region 6 action.

The win avenges a 6-1 loss to the Dragons back on Sept. 17. Meadville has also beaten Hickory and Bradford recently, teams that beat the ’Dogs 3-0 and 7-1, respectively, earlier this season.

Meadville is now 12-4 overall and 9-4 in Region 6. Warren is 10-4 overall and 9-3 in the region.

Alayna Zieziula fed Adams the ball for the winning goal, which was thanks to another outstanding performance by the Bulldogs’ defense Phoebe Templin, Sarah Price, Ellie Collins, Calandria McClure and Emily Wright as well as goalie Riley Olson.

“They were a stone wall,” Meadville coach Jim Miller said. “They would bend, but not break.”


Spa, Braves tie

LAWRENCE PARK — In a battle for first place in Region 3, Cambridge Springs and Iroquois played to a 1-1 tie after two overtime periods.

Iroquois led 1-0 at the half on a goal by Rayne Minier. Lexie Burdick scored on a direct kick with 15 minutes left in regulation to tie it at 1-1. 

Iroquois and Cambridge remained tied atop the region standings. The Spa is 7-4-1 overall and 5-1-1 in Region 3. Iroquois is 10-3-1 and 5-1-1, respectively. The Blue Devils do hold the tiebreaker over the Braves for the region’s top seed, according to Spa head coach Geoff Bristow.


Bison blank Eagles

LINESVILLE — The Conneaut Area girls soccer team fell to Fort LeBoeuf, 10-0, on Wednesday in Region 5 play.

Mackenzie Huston scored four goals for the Bison. Emily Yaple and Lydia Kowalczyk had two goals each and Lauren Green and Elise Cacchione tallied one goal apiece.

Bobcats stop ’Wood

CLARION — Two of the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association’s top ranked teams squared off in a non-region volleyball match on Wednesday.

Clarion, ranked No. 2 in Class 1A, topped Maplewood, ranked No. 3 in Class 2A, in a thriller 25-23, 15-25, 23-25, 26-24, 15-13.

Chloe Leech led the Tigers with 17 kills and 15 digs. Sadie Thomas added 11 kills, eight digs and two aces. Bailey Varndell dished out 35 assists and Maggie Woge had 15 digs.


Sailors roll Knights

STONEBORO — Lakeview picked up a non-region sweep against Franklin on Wednesday in non-region volleyball action. The Sailors won 26-24, 25-21, 25-21.

Haven Patton led the Sailors (4-9) with 10 kills and 15 digs. Reese Gadsby had 17 assists and nine digs. Leah Hostetler tallied six kills and Alivia Slater added five kills. Morgan Snyder chipped in with six aces.

Scots top Griffins

GREENSBURG — Danielle Chatten scored a pair second half goals to lead Edinboro to a 2-0 win at Seton Hill on Wednesday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women’s soccer action.

The Fighting Scots are now 7-2-1 overall and 7-0-1 in the PSAC and remain for first place in the PSAC West.

Rebecca Manns had an assist for the Scots.

Chatten now has 21 career goals, moving into 11th place all-time, and she is 12th in career scoring with 57 points. Manns now has 14 career assists to move into sole possession of 13th place.
