RUSSELL — Ashton Hoover had a game-high 25 points to lead Cambridge Springs to a 65-33 win over Eisenhower on Saturday in Region 2 girls basketball action.

Hoover made 11 field goals, including a 3-pointer. Rachel Swanson added 15 points for the Blue Devils (10-3, 7-1 Region 2). Maddie Yanc had nine points and Makenzie Yanc chipped in with eight points.

Eisenhower is now 3-9 overall and 2-7 in Region 2.

Lancers roll Cards

COCHRANTON — Rachel Kaulis made a statement early. Kaulis scored 16 of her game-high 25 points in the first quarter to lead General McLane to a 52-42 win over Cochranton in non-region girls basketball action on Saturday.

Kaulis had four 3-pointers in the first quarter. Emily Hess finished with 11 points for the Lancers (4-5).

Cat Miller led Cochranton (8-5) with 12 points. Lexie Moore added 10 points.

Calvary tops Erie

ERIE — From Friday, the Calvary boys basketball team made a nice charge in the second half to grab its second win of the season, defeating New-Penn Christian League opponent Bethel Baptist of Erie 54-47. 

Calvary Baptist (2-5, 2-2 NPCL) and Erie ended the first half tied 25-25. The Thunder then outscored the Warriors 29-22 to earn the victory. 

Ethan Kerr had a hue night for the Thunder, bucketing 26 points. Caleb Mattocks followed with 11 points while Stuart Hochstetler added 10. 

For Bethel of Erie, Ethan Heitzmialer had 20 points while Reagan Cook scored 11 and Spencer Siegler tallied 10.

Shaker nabs MASH

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio — The Meadville hockey team suffered a 2-1 loss to Shaker in non-region action on Saturday.

Cohl Weber scored Meadville’s goal to tie the game at 1-1 on an assist from Cody Lewis. But with 25 seconds left in the second period, Shaker scored the go-ahead and eventual game-winner.

Sam Coppola had 23 saves in goal for Meadville (10-14-1).
