Recently, as I left the farm store on Conneaut Lake Road, I tripped and fell face down on something hard between my chest and the ground. It was my fist. The pain in my chest was intense. I had trouble breathing, etc.
Within 2 seconds there were three people trying to help me, "Are you OK? Are you hurt? Can we help you stand? Can we get you to your car?"
My first thought was, "This is America." Compassion, understanding, a desire to help others. These people didn't know me. It was dark, cold and raining heavily, and yet they cared.
This is America and I am very proud to know they are here when we need them.
Thank you, you three strangers. You are America.
