My original intent to write this letter was to say "I don't know about the rest of you, but I have had my fill of the political bent of the Sound-Off column."

The Nov. 26 edition of that column had 28 total sound-offs, 17 of which mentioned the name Trump, another nine were political and only two pertained to other subjects. When the column first started,it was not so much a "complaint department," but one which people could use to express their thoughts. I remember one of my favorites from eight or 10 years ago when someone wrote in and said that their husband states that when he takes a shower he doesn't know if he is in our bathroom or in the produce department of the local grocery store. I attribute that to the items on the shower shelf: apricot face scrub, shampoo with extract of lemon and green apple body wash.

That made me laugh and started my day out right. Lately, with all the political bashing, my day is ruined shortly after it begins. I am happy to say that the Dec. 10 issue was a huge improvement — not so much politically aimed, and actually had a couple of nice comments. I would love to see this trend continue so that my Tuesdays start on a more positive note. Two favorite quotes of mine: "Let go of what you cannot control" and "smile more." That last one was given to me on a small plaque by my grandson and I look at it every day. I recommend you try it!
