I see by a recent article in the Tribune that Medicare and Social Security are not at all secure and face many difficulties. Not all surprising with the shenanigans that have taken place, Medicare Advantage being one big problem.
Medicare Advantage came about some time ago due to Congress choosing to give Medicare money to insurance companies. What a nightmare! This is one of the means by which insurance companies have become the bandits/thieves of the health care system.
Those of us on Medicare pay our premium for it out of our Social Security checks each month, but if we have Medicare Advantage insurance, we have a very compromised version of Medicare, truly short changed. It is only going to get worse. I don't give Medicare more than five years, if that.
The best thing we can do is to take good care of ourselves, stay well and not have to use the very limited coverage from Medicare Advantage, which is being advertised constantly on TV urging everyone to sign up for it. It's not a good plan, and I know from experience.
Thanks to our Congress for selling us out by giving Medicare money to the powerful and cruel insurance companies to create such a nightmare as Medicare Advantage. Why aren't people upset about this? Good question. Any answers? There are other reasons why Medicare and Social Security are in dire trouble, but this one is a big one.
