I have been asked on several occasions, “Why should I vote Dave Powers for sheriff?" This is my answer: If your vote is not for Dave Powers then you really do not know him and you need to take the time to do so before the election.
I have worked with Dave for almost three years. He is an honest man with great integrity. He comes to work on time and ready to do his job of protecting the citizens of Crawford County without any complaints.
His many years of law enforcement experience gives him the ability to be able to diffuse escalated situations in front of him. I have heard on many occasions, “Dave was able to calm them down.” He believes in protecting all the individuals coming into and out of the judicial center and courthouse to the best of his ability.
He recently made a statement which really hit home for me. He basically said (not in these exact words) that most people coming to the judicial center or courthouse do not want to be there. In a hearing, someone loses. They may lose custody of their child or their house, someone or something that means a great deal to them.
You never know how someone is going to handle a volatile situation. Because he has worked in law enforcement for many years it has given him the advantage of seeing both sides of a situation. Innocent until proven guilty. He isn’t there to judge but to do his job based on this vast amount of knowledge and experience he has received over his many years of service. I believe that Dave’s leadership quality makes him the best choice for Crawford County sheriff.
This is my personal opinion and not necessarily the opinion of the Sheriff’s Office or any other Crawford County office.
