In reference to the "controversial photo" referenced at the top of Saturday's front page, any influence and power Ms. Fetterman has gained from having married into political power — after coming here illegally herself — should be directed toward fixing the serious problems affecting the citizens of this state.

Even the illegal immigrants living here would benefit more from stopping one of the leading causes of death in the under-30 population — illegal drugs — not wasting time making life difficult for things as inconsequential as golfers with a sense of humor, and certainly not helping with the effort to expand access to even more recreational drug use.

As to Ms. Gonzalez — her concerns for "Mexicans being detained at the border" not being her idea of a party — has she considered that those people have been detained precisely because they crossed the border in direct violation of long-standing laws enacted by our government to protect this country? Try walking across the border into Mexico illegally, or most other countries, and see how much of a party they throw for you.

And to take out her frustrations on the (Meadville-Western Crawford County) Chamber of Commerce is yet more misguided rock-throwing. If the emotionally mature, sober members of society do not stand up to these attacks, we will lose what is good about this country.

Paraphrasing many throughout history, the rule of law is the basis for any democracy. Without it, you end up with chaos.
