EAST FALLOWFIELD TOWNSHIP — A Conneaut Lake man was flown to the hospital following a snowmobile accident in the Hartstown area Saturday night.
According to Irene Howick, assistant chief of Fallowfield Fire and Rescue, the man was operating a snowmobile with a friend on another snowmobile on a railroad bed when he collided with a fallow tree branch and was thrown from the vehicle. The call about the accident, which occurred near South Canal Road, came in at around 11:13 p.m.
"The initial caller said he was unconscious, but he was conscious when we arrived," Howick said.
The unidentified man was transported by STAT MedEvac helicopter to Mercy Health-St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital in Ohio for treatment of head injuries, though Howick said he was in a stable condition upon being airlifted.
Fallowfield was assisted on the scene by Conneaut Lake Volunteer Fire Department and Life Force Ambulance.
