ATHENS TOWNSHIP — A Centerville area woman was wounded early this morning in an accidental shooting at a Athens Township home, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Corry.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. at a home on Creek Road, police said.

A 51-year-old man, whom police did not identify, was removing a black powder revolver from a filing cabinet drawer in the home when the revolver went off for an unknown reason, police said.

The bullet struck the victim, a 48-year-old woman whom police also did not identify, in the shoulder, police said.

She was taken to Titusville Area Hospital for treatment, police said.
