A Meadville man is in Crawford County jail, accused by city police of selling drugs out of his unit in an apartment house.

James Keith Lewis, 25, was arraigned Friday on multiple drug charges before Magisterial District Judge Samuel Pendolino.

Police breached the door to Lewis’ unoccupied apartment at the Meade Inn, 625 Park Ave., in executing a search warrant, according to the probable cause affidavit filed in the case. The search was issued after several people charged in connection with drug activities over the previous several days told police they had bought drugs from Lewis, according to the affidavit.

The search of Lewis’ apartment led to the discovery of a bag containing what police believe was heroin and another containing a white powder substance as well as multiple glass pipes, baggies, needles and other suspected drug paraphernalia, according to police.

Lewis faces a felony charge of possession with intent to distribute and misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of intentional possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered to do so. He remains in Crawford County jail in lieu of $60,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing in the case was scheduled for Jan. 24 before Pendolino.
