With 19 of 19 precincts that elect PENNCREST School Board members, unofficial results show Jennifer Davis of Troy Township as the top vote getter with 4,590 votes.

PENNCREST School Board candidates appeared on the ballot of 18 precincts in Crawford County and one precinct in Plum Township, Venango County.

Davis and five other candidates vied for five four-year terms on the board. Unofficial results show Timothy J. Brown came in second place with 4,041 votes followed by Jeff Brooks in third with 4,005 votes. David Valesky finished fourth with 3,687 votes, and Republican Luigi DeFrancesco rounded out the board with 2,892 votes. Democrat Harry Hicks received 1,814 votes.

Brooks, Brown and DeFrancesco are current board members, while Davis and Valesky are new members.

Of those seeking a two-year term, unofficial results show Brian P. Lynch won over independent candidate Michael Muckinhaupt 3,164 to 2,072.

Brooks said the results of the vote came in "about as expected," and he was glad to see the end of campaign season.

"It's great that the election's over," Brooks said. "We can get back to work for our community, our students and our taxpayers."

Valesky said he would be "learning" during his first term and making sure the district is fiscally responsible.

"I'll be watching spending," Valesky said. "That's probably the biggest thing, ensuring the taxpayer money is being spent in the right areas."

DeFrancesco also commented on the results, saying, "If the electorate feels what I've done in the past has been good for the taxpayers and the students, I will continue to do that."

Official tabulation of the votes is expected to begin Friday. The results will be submitted to the Crawford County Election Board for certification once votes are officially counted.
