A 19-year-old Meadville man is in Crawford County jail after allegedly stealing cellphones worth more than $6,000 from his employer last month.
Justin Dover was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Amy Nicols on Friday.
State police at Meadville allege Dover took brand new phones from Walmart, 16086 Conneaut Lake Road, Vernon Township, where he was an employee. The phones were taken between Sept. 6 and 29, according to police, and were worth a total of $6,143.
Dover faces a third degree felony charge of retail theft. State police were assisted by Walmart’s loss prevention staff in the investigation, according to a police press release.
A preliminary hearing in the case was scheduled for Oct. 18 before Nicols.
Dover remains in county jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
