A Vernon Township man has been sentenced to three to eight years in state prison for sexually assaulting a woman last year.
Jason P. Bearce, 31, of 11820 Hunters Ridge Blvd., Apt. 5, was given the sentence Friday in the Crawford County Court of Common Pleas.
Vernon Township Police Department had charged Bearce with rape, sexual assault and two counts of indecent assault for attacking a woman May 10, 2018, at a Vernon Township apartment.
In April, Bearce reached a plea agreement with the Crawford County District Attorney's Office and pleaded guilty in county court to sexual assault for the attack. The rape and two counts of indecent assault weren't prosecuted as part of the agreement.
President Judge Anthony Vardaro sentenced Bearce to three to eight years in state prison with two days of presentence jail credit. Bearce also was ordered to pay a $200 fine plus court costs as well as $675.77 in restitution to the woman who was the victim.
Bearce could have received a maximum of 10 years in jail and a $25,000 fine on the sexual assault count, a second-degree felony.
