The Make A Difference Day project hotline at 337-1251 opens Monday. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. through Sept. 30.

Organized by the United Way of Western Crawford County, Make A Difference Day is a day when hundreds of volunteers ranging from children to college students to adults come together to complete more than 100 small construction and general yard maintenance projects for low-income and senior western Crawford residents. These projects may include, leaf raking, ramp building, porch repair, cleanup and more.

This year's Make A Difference Day is Oct. 19.

To be considered for a small construction/repair project, the Make A Difference Day committee encourages residents to call in early. Requests called in prior to Sept. 6 will be reviewed with priority.

Organizers stress that submitting an application doesn’t guarantee the project will be accepted. Volunteers must visit work sites to assess the safety and the scope of the project.
