One suspect is in custody and was expected to be placed in Crawford County jail late Wednesday night following arraignment after a stabbing incident in south Meadville.

Louis G. Boatwright, 1182 S. Cottage St., turned himself in from a Walker Drive residence after being sought by police who learned his name at the scene of the 8:30 p.m. incident that allegedly occurred at Boatwright’s address.

The victim of the stabbing was cut on his face from his right temple to just under the tip of his nose, with the wound going slightly below his right eye, police said. They said he was treated and released at Meadville Medical Center where he received numerous stitches.

Meadville Police Sgt. Glen Peterson said Boatwright would be charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of simple assault. There also was a bench warrant for his arrest from a previous case, Peterson noted.

At approximately 8:30, police and emergency medical responders were called to the S. Cottage St. address, located in a residential-alley neighborhood behind Sec-ond District Elementary School, where the victim was found bleeding and taken by ambulance to MMC.
