FRENCH CREEK TOWNSHIP, Mercer County — No foul play is suspected in the death of a French Creek Township man who was found dead in his burnt car, Mercer County Deputy Coroner Robert L. Snyder said.
Jason D. Gould, 45, of Carlton, died Thursday of asphyxiation by smoke inhalation after he had an apparent cardiac event and the vehicle caught fire, Snyder said.
Gould was discovered in the car at his home at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Snyder ruled the death accidental following the results of an autopsy conducted by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday.
State police and the Mercer County Coroner’s Office investigated the incident. A Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. Cochranton Fire Department assisted at the scene.
