RICHMOND TOWNSHIP — A 60-year-old Richmond Township man was treated for stab wounds Wednesday after a couple knocked on his door shortly after midnight and attacked him.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, a man and a woman approached the man’s Teepleville Road home around 12:20 a.m. and convinced him to open his door. After stepping outside, the male suspect struck him on the head with a pipe wrench. The homeowner attempted to evade further attack by seeking refuge inside his home, but was stabbed with a knife by the male assailant, according to police.

The wounded man called out to his wife who was in another room and the couple fled the scene.

Trooper Kurt Sitler said it is unclear whether or not the female suspect entered the home.

The man was treated at Meadville Medical Center and released.

State police are continuing the investigation.
