WAYNE, Ohio — A “Christmas in Paradise” play and program is at 6 p.m. today at the First Congregational Church of Wayne, which is located at the corner of routes 322 and 193.

There will be the play, Christmas carol hymn sing, special music, Christmas reading and candlelight service. Refreshments follow this program. All are invited.

SAEGERTOWN — The Saegertown Back Door Church Christmas Service is at 6 p.m. Dec. 15 at Saegertown United Methodist Church, 620 Euclid Ave. Refreshments are at 5:30.

Also, the 18th annual Saegertown Community Christmas Cantata presents “Morning Star” by Joseph M. Martin at 7 p.m. today and Sunday at the church. A love offering will be collected to benefit Saegertown Elementary School families in need during the holidays and a member of the church’s congregation battling cancer.

During the advent season, the United Methodist churches of Harmonsburg and Linesville will be visited by “persons” (portrayed by Pastor Dennis Lawton) who were present at the first Christmas.

The shepherd will attend on Sunday, and he will be followed by the inn keeper on Dec. 16. The Maji will conclude the visitations on Dec. 23.

All are invited to attend and hear the story of Jesus’s birth unfold.

Services are held in Harmonsburg at 9:30 a.m. and in Linesville at 11.

SPRING TOWNSHIP — Dan Schall of Zelienople performs a special concert at 11 a.m. Sunday during the worship service at Hickernell United Methodist Church.

Through his music and testimony he conveys his love for Jesus Christ and his concern for his fellow man’s eternity.

Schall’s ministry focuses on encouragement and God’s love for man.

The service is open to the community.

HARMONSBURG — The Devine family presents its “Christmas Eve Traditions” at 3 p.m. Sunday at Harmonsburg United Methodist Church, 14182 First St.

Take a step back in time as Devine Inspirations, with songs, prayers and poems, lead you back with the story of a family attending the church pageant then traveling home to decorate the tree and hear Father read the story of the first Christmas.

WOODCOCK — A Christmas musical is at 3 p.m. Sunday at Woodcock United Methodist Church.

Enjoy musical presentations by various local musicians and singers with a selection by the choir of Grace United Methodist Church. Refreshments will be provided following the program with a free-will offering taken to support the church's designated missions.

Active Aging Inc. Meadville Center welcomes the Devine Inspirations Christmas Pageant: Christmas Eve Traditions Musical at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Community Center of Crawford County, 1034 Park Ave. Doors open at 5:30.

This event is open to the public of all ages, and the cost is $3 per person. Reservations are appreciated. Proceeds benefit the Active Aging Inc. Meadville Center.

WEST MEAD TOWNSHIP — A group that crochets plastic bags into mats for homeless people meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at New Beginnings Church of God on Leslie Road in conference room 118.

The mats will be given to homeless people to sleep on outside. If you can crochet, you can be a blessing. No donations of bags are needed.

This is the last meeting until further notice.

BLOOMING VALLEY — A community Christmas event is at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at Blooming Valley United Methodist Church.

The program includes puppets telling the Christmas story; a first person presentation of Mary, Mother of Jesus, by Pastor Christine Rogan; and Christmas carols.

This program is for all ages and will be followed by refreshments that include soup, cookies, snacks and a Jesus birthday cake.
