A 27-year-old Meadville man faces charges for allegedly possessing an unlicensed handgun and methamphetamine on Chestnut Street on Thursday, according to the criminal complaint filed by city police in the case.
Brandon Marshall Hopkins, listed as homeless in the criminal complaint, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Samuel Pendolino on Friday.
Police reported that Hopkins was found in possession of a Baikal .380 pistol near the intersection of Chestnut Street and East Alley at about 9 p.m., according to the criminal complaint. Hopkins allegedly also possessed methamphetamine and several items of drug paraphernalia at the time.
Hopkins faces a felony count of firearms not to be carried without a license and misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Sept. 18 before Pendolino. Hopkins remains in Crawford County jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
