Elected officials in Crawford County will get a small annual salary increase from 2024 through 2027.

County commissioners split 2 to 1 in approving the pay increases which total 1.5 percent from 2024 through 2027 for 10 countywide elected offices. There will be no increase in 2024 and with a 0.5 percent each year for 2025, 2026 and 2027.

Commissioners Francis Weiderspahn Jr. and Christopher Soff voted for the increases while Commissioner Eric Henry voted against them, saying Crawford's salaries were at the top end when compared to other Sixth Class counties in Pennsylvania (those with populations of 45,000 to 89,999).

Soff and Weiderspahn did express concern that, without even a modest increase, wages for some union and non-union employees could rise to near the level of elected officials over time.

At Monday night's meeting, commissioners set salaries for the following county offices: commissioner, sheriff, prothonotary, recorder of deeds and register of wills, coroner, treasurer, clerk of courts and orphan's court, and auditors.

Salaries for the offices were previously set through 2023, but some offices are for a four-year term that are up for election in 2021. Those offices only had salaries set for the first two years of the four-year term and under Pennsylvania law, the salary must be set for the full four-year term prior to election.

The annual salaries of elected officials below are listed for 2024 through 2027. The salaries are:

• Commissioners — $78,662.71, $79,056.03, $79,451.31 and $79,848.56
