The annual Chocoholic Frolic fundraiser returns this month benefitting two new groups and with new hosts.

The Meadville-Western Crawford County Chamber of Commerce and the Meadville Chamber Foundation host the fundraiser from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Italian Civic Club, 869 Water St.

Previously hosted by the Crawford County READ Program, the frolic has been a long-time fundraiser for educational programming in Crawford County, and this year is no different. The chamber and the chamber foundation are home to programs that serve area youth and leadership training for adults.

This year’s event benefits the Crawford County K-12 Career Education Alliance and Leadership Meadville. The Crawford County K-12 Career Education Alliance serves the Conneaut, Crawford Central and PENNCREST school districts in the efforts of career exploration for students kindergarten through 12th grade. Career and STEM camps, field trips to local businesses, mock interviews and more help local students learn about the careers available in the region.

Leadership Meadville is an initiative to develop leadership capacity in the Crawford County area. Now in its ninth year, Leadership Meadville’s mission is to identify and develop current and future leaders through a program designed to increase knowledge and awareness of the issues and challenges facing the community.

Eight chocolatiers in the Meadville area are currently registered to compete for the titles of best Baked Goods, Candy and Specialty Items and the coveted People’s Choice Award.

Samples will be available from Cannon’s Chophouse, Confections of a Cake Lover, Cracker Barrel, Crawford County Care Center, Crawford County Career & Technical Center, Making Memories Catering, Meadville Medical Center, and Pampered Palate Catering and Conference Center.

A new twist this year will be the addition of a panel of judges to select the winners of each of the categories. The general public will continue to vote for the People’s Choice. Chocolatiers have until Feb. 15 to register to participate.

Another highlight of the evening is a chocolate diamond raffle where two pieces of jewelry donated by Memory Lane Jewelry & Boutique and Roberts Jewelers will be given away. The LeVian Chocolate Diamond pendant and a chocolate diamond ring are valued at more than $2,000, according to the chamber. These raffle tickets can be purchased at both jewelry stores and at the chamber office, 908 Diamond Park, Meadville.

Sponsorships are available and include tickets to the event as well as entrance to the private sponsor cocktail hour at 5 p.m.

Tickets are $20 and may be purchased at the chamber and online at
