SPARTA TOWNSHIP — A Union City man was killed Sunday when the motorcycle he was operating collided with a horse and buggy.
James Norman Kent, 57, was traveling east on Route 77 at about 3:20 p.m. on a 2009 Can-Am Spyder, when a horse and buggy operated by a 17-year-old male from Spartansburg pulled from the westbound lane right in front of Kent, police report.
The motorcycle struck the side of the buggy, causing the buggy to roll onto its side. Kent was ejected from the motorcycle, police report.
The operator of the buggy was not injured.
Kent was transported to Titusville Area Hospital, where he died from his injuries, police report. The cause of death was blunt force trauma to the chest, according to Crawford County Coroner Scott Schell.
Kent's motorcycle was disabled and towed from the scene.
State police from the Corry barracks were assisted at the scene by Spartansburg Volunteer Fire Department and EmergyCare Emergency Medical Services.
The crash is still under investigation, according to police.
