Up to a foot of snow is possible on the ground in the Meadville area by Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service Office in Cleveland.
A late winter storm is expected to develop over the region tonight and continue to affect the area through Tuesday.
Snow will start late tonight and continue on and off into Tuesday as a strong low pressure system moves slowly north across central Pennsylvania. Exact snow amounts depend upon the precise track of the low, but total accumulations of six to 12 inches are possible.
Winds will be out of the northwest from 15 to 25 miles per hour with gusts up to 45 miles per hour.
Forecasters say the snow that falls will be heavy, wet and driven by the strong winds. It may have a significant impact on trees and other vegetation as well as potentially affecting power lines.
