Meadville Medical Center announced today that the scheduled Point of Distribution (POD) for the COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday is being rescheduled due to doses not arriving from Pfizer because of weather conditions.
MMC was made aware mid-day on Wednesday by Pfizer that due to weather conditions shipment of vaccine doses have been delayed. Additional information about how long these delays will last was not provided to MMC. If additional doses are not received by Friday the POD on Saturday will also be rescheduled.
“MMC has committed significant resources to distributing the vaccine as quickly as possible, however, with a limited number of doses and an uncertain timeline for when they will arrive it makes scheduling and coordinating these PODs to be incredibly challenging. We are tremendously disappointed in the delay and for those individuals that had to be rescheduled,” said Don Rhoten, vice president of consumer engagement.
All individuals who were scheduled are being contacted in order to make them aware of these changes and anyone receiving their second dose will still fall within the CDC’s guidelines of 42 days after the first dose.
