The first day of school was a little different for students at First District Elementary School this year. The school’s renovations weren’t completed in time for school to open forcing the district to come up with an alternative plan. Students were bused to two area churches and will remain their until their school building is ready. This picture taken on the first day of school is featured in The Meadville Tribune photographer’s ‘Pictures of August’ slideshow.

Each month The Meadville Tribune photographers showcase what they consider to be their best or most important images captured from the previous month in slideshows on The Meadville Tribune Web site feature called “Pictures of the Month.”

Our photographers are just a small voice in the community. Thousands of area residents snap pictures everyday, capturing their most important moments. We would like to share these pictures with all of our readers to form a more comprehensive view of our county and a better understanding of who we are as a community.

So we are beginning a reader’s “Pictures of the Month” feature on our Web site and invite you to submit your best and most important images. Some events to consider are celebrations, birthdays, anniversaries etc.... Others are just nice pictures of people or a sunset. Virtually all subject matter is important to someone.

So send us your photographs.

We require that the pictures be taken in Crawford or surrounding counties or feature people from these areas. Pictures of our troops overseas are also welcome or local people doing things elsewhere.

To submit: e-mail your .jpeg images to photography@mead-villetribune.com. Please provide a brief caption with information including the names of any prominent people, what is going on and the date and location the picture was taken. You can attach this information to the picture or put it in the body of the e-mail.

We do reserve the right to not publish images that are of poor quality or subject matter inappropriate for a news publication.
