JAMESTOWN — Bruce Woyt wasn’t fazed by the prospect of icy water as he adjusted his udders.

That’s right — udders.

“I’ve never done this before,” said Woyt of Jamestown, dressed from head to toe in a cow costume as he readied himself for a plunge into the 33-degree water of Pymatuning Lake for charity.

Woyt was one of 30 who participated Saturday in the fifth annual “Go Jump in the Lake Incident” at Pymatuning State Park’s Beach No. 2 in Jamestown.

Held in conjunction with Pymatuning Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club’s 32nd annual Winter Fun Days at the park, the jump benefits Greenville Area Leisure Services Association and the Jamestown Future Foundation

“Once you’re past the shock of it, it makes you feel good,” said Woyt, following his jump into the water. “As long as you don’t wallow around in it.”

Those who jumped into the lake spent about a minute in the water.

“I think they’re crazy,” said Sylvia Loveridge of James-town, one of about 200 onlookers who cheered for the jumpers as they raced to the lake. “They’re doing it for a good cause, but I’m freezing to death standing here watching them.”
