The Meadville cross country program had a successful trip to Grove City Saturday, as the girls team took second overall and boys finished eighth at the Grove City Invitational.
Wilmington won the girls race with 84 points, with Meadville 10 points behind at 94. Altoona won the boys race with 45 points, with Meadville finishing with 236.
In all, Meadville had five runners earn medals, four of which coming from the girls squad.
That group was led by Paige Yoder, who finished with a time of 20:43 to lead the Bulldogs, and take the eighth overall individual spot. Yoder was followed by Meredith Prather (20:47, 9th), Abby Peters (21:15, 14th) and Libby Volna (21:35, 23rd), with all four runners earning medals. Also finishing for the girls team were Samantha Whitney (22:34, 40th), Paige Whitney (22:57, 46th) and Lucy Volna (23:27, 54th).
On the boys side, Meadville’s Matt Svetz led the Bulldogs with a time of 17:38, taking the 24th overall spot and earning a medal in the process. Other Meadville finishers included Louis McUmber (17:57, 30th), Nick Rose (18:59, 47th, Dan Shields (20:23, 64th), Eric Ziegler (20:50, 71st), Matt Neubert (21:22, 76th) and Nic Costa (21:57, 83rd).
