The Erie SeaWolves could not hold a late lead on Wednesday night at Jerry Uht Park, dropping game one of the Eastern Baseball League’s Western Division Championship Series to the Harrisburg Senators 5-4.
Harrisburg jumped ahead in the top of the first inning with a two-out, two-run homer by Justin Bloxom.
Erie responded in the bottom of the first, knocking three straight hits with two outs including a three-run dinger by Tyler Collins.
The Senators tied the game 3-3 in the fourth when Jerad Head singled home Carlos Rivero.
Erie regained the lead in the bottom of the seventh. Brandon Douglas led off with a double and later scored on a fielder’s choice.
Harrisburg took the lead with runs in the eighth and ninth. In the eighth, Sean Nicol was hit by a pitch and scored on a sac fly. Then Steven Souza Jr. led off the ninth with a solo home run off of Melvin Mercedes.
The SeaWolves and Senators meet in the second game of the best-of-five series tonight at 6:35 p.m. at Jerry Uht Park.
