EDINBORO — Edinboro quarterback Trevor Harris added two more career records to his résumé Saturday in the Fighting Scots’ 24-17 win over Indiana (Pa.) at Sox Harrison Stadium.
With a 14-yard completion to Jeremy Burr late in the first quarter, Harris became Edinboro’s all-time leader in passing yards, breaking Jody Dickerson’s mark of 7,299 yards set in 1994. Harris finished the game with 290, giving him 7,540.
Harris also broke the career mark for total offense — a record again formerly held by Dickerson. Harris now has 7,892 yards of total offense. Dickerson had 7,674.
“It’s a credit to the coaches,” Harris said. “Coach (Mike) Yurcich has done a great job coaching me and our receivers have done a great job making plays for me. Every week they just come out ready play and I just come out and do my job. Good things happen when you listen to your coaches.”
Harris, just a junior, now owns all but one career passing record at Edinboro and he is just 17 attempts away from breaking that mark as well. Mentor Justin Bouch, who played from 2002-05, currently holds the record for career pass attempts with 953. Harris has 937.
“I learned from the best quarterback to ever play here,” Harris said. “Justin Bouch is the best quarterback to play here in my opinion. I learned a lot from him. He’s always been supportive of me and is a great friend even to this day.
“I talk to him every Saturday. He’s great guy. He’s helped me out a lot, and I look up to him.”
Notes: Statistically for the Scots in their win against IUP, Harris finished 26-of-36 for 290 yards passing. Gary Nolen was Harris’ favorite target, matching a career-high with six receptions for 86 yards. Jeremy Burr caught four passes for 61 yards. Ulysee Davis finished with 73 yards on 21 carries.
For IUP, Ken Witter caught nine passes for 97 yards. Andrew Krewatch was 22-of-38 for 313 yards.
