1924
The Cambridge Springs boys basketball team wins the school’s first league title in any sport.

1960
Denny Wilmoth wins the District 10 golf title as an independent.

1967
Bernie Novotny becomes Cambridge Springs’ first 1,000-point scorer. He finished his career with 1,441 points.

1977
Two-sport standout Rick Christie, a 1973 graduate, signs as a free agent with the Dallas Cowboys, making it until the final cut. The linebacker also later tried out with the New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns.

1986
Mark Crays won Cambridge Springs’ first District 10 championship in wrestling. Two years later, Crays became the school’s first state placewinner in the sport, finishing sixth.

1988
Dec. 11 — Cambridge Springs falls to Camp Hill, 18-7, in the inaugural PIAA Class A state football championship game at Shippensburg University.

1991
The Cambridge Springs girls volleyball team makes its first appearance at the PIAA state tournament. The Lady Blue Devils fell to French Creek Valley Conference foe Conneaut Lake in the Class AA semifinals, 15-10, 15-5.

1992
March 20 — The Cambridge Springs boys basketball team tops Father Geibel, 73-38, to reach the PIAA Class AA West final. The Spa fell in the West final, 43-37, to Carlynton on March 25.

1994
June 13 — Cambridge Springs Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2007 honoree Meghan Kutz and the Lady Blue Devils fell to Riverside, 10-0, in four-and-a-half innings in the PIAA Class A West final in softball. The Spa committed eight errors in the loss and finished the season at 22-2.

1996
Brad Dies sets the school record with 1,537 career points in boys basketball.

1997
Adam Shearer becomes the Spa’s all-time leading tackler with 395 tackles.

Feb. 7 — Cambridge Springs ends Union City’s streak of 45 straight regular season wins with a 60-55 win over the Bears in a French Creek Valley Conference boys basketball showdown.

March 15 — Cambridge Springs tops Shady Side Academy, 47-39, to earn a spot in the PIAA Class AA West final in boys basketball. The Blue Devils fell to Aliquippa, 57-47, in the West final on March 19, denying the Spa of a shot at its first state title.

1998
One of the most successful high school baseball careers comes to an end with the graduation of B.J. Borsa. Borsa finished his career with a record of 18-4 and an earned run average of just 1.02 with 219 strikeouts in 136.2 innings of work. He threw four no-hitters, including a perfect game.
Borsa also hit .431 for his career with 22 home runs. He went on to star at Division I Cincinnati and later signed as a free agent with the Cincinnati Reds.

1999
Justin DeArment and Ryan Sayers become the first and only Cambridge Springs wrestlers to reach the 100-win milestone. DeArment finished his career with 108 wins, while Sayers finished with 103 victories. Both won District 10 titles that year as well.

2003
Rae Ann Sherred becomes Cambridge’s all-time leading scorer in girls basketball with 1,363 points. Sherred went on to play at Edinboro University where she played her final season this past winter. Cambridge Springs advanced to the state playoffs that year for just the second time in school history. The first was in 1999.

2005
Josh Hobson sets the school record for rushing yards in a season with 1,635 yards. The previous mark was 1,338 yards set by Matt Lewandowski in 1989.

2006
Josh Hobson becomes Cambridge Springs’ all-time leading career rusher. Hobson finished the year with 1,400 yards, giving him 3,769 for his career.

2008
Stephanie Baer set school records for triples in a career (11), wins in a career (71), strikeouts in a career (792) and career ERA (0.76) as a member of the Cambridge Springs softball team. Elizabeth Dine also finished with career-highs in hits (102), games played (92), runs (95) and home runs (six). Kristen Humes set the school record in RBIs with 76.
Cambridge Springs, which played in the West final in 2007, saw its season come to an end in the PIAA state quarterfinals with a 1-0 eight-inning loss to eventual Class A state champion Vincentian.
