Crashes

State Police

-Tamara K. McGill, 42, of Titusville, was traveling west on State Route 27 when her vehicle slid on the ice-covered roadway and left the south berm at 8 a.m. Feb. 19, according to state police. The vehicle reportedly impacted an embankment with its right side and spun counterclockwise, striking the same embankment with the rear. The vehicle came to rest on its right side, police said. No injuries were reported.

-A car driven by Mehran Roeen, 19, of Whitby, Ontario, was northbound on Interstate 79 in Greenwood Township one mile south of Exit 141 on Feb. 18 at 4:10 a.m. when it failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, entered the east berm, struck ice on the berm and started to go off the east side of the berm into the grass. When the driver over-corrected, the vehicle came back into the northbound lanes, where the driver lost control before the vehicle slid into a ditch, causing an overturn/rollover crash. The vehicle came to final rest facing south on the left side of the vehicle in the ditch. Both the operator and a passenger, Josai Karim, 30, of Scarborough, Ontario, were taken by Conneaut Lake Area Ambulance Service to Meadville Medical Center, where they were treated and released.

-No injuries were reported in a two-car crash Feb. 17 at 3:18 p.m. on Smock Highway, 213 feet northeast of Park Avenue Plaza. A car driven by Patrick J. Reese, 20, of Hollidaysburg was traveling north across the Smock Bridge in the left lane and too fast for conditions when it struck a car driven by Sean Catalano, 23, of Meadville in the rear end. Catalano’s vehicle was stopped for traffic in the left lane. State police were assisted at the scene by Vernon Township Fire Department and Vernon Township Police Department.

-A car driven by Isabel V. Vredenburgh, 84, of Jamestown, was traveling west along East Jamestown Road in Mercer County’s Greene Township Feb. 16 at 10:43 a.m. at approximately 35 miles per hour when she lost control on the ice-covered roadway. Traveling off the right side of the roadway, the vehicle’s front end collided with a guide rail; after the impact, the vehicle flipped onto its passenger side before coming to final rest in a yard on its passenger side. Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department removed Vredenburgh from the vehicle by cutting off the roof and also assisted with traffic control. After being transported to UPMC Greenville, she was transferred to UPMC Pittsburgh for further treatment.
