MEADVILLE — Titusville Area

Magisterial District Judge

-Jason A. Kennelley, 35, of Titusville, was held for a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Amy Nicols and bound over to the next term of court on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment. Titusville police filed the charges for an incident on Dec. 30, 2012. His bond is set at $25,000. He was also held for a preliminary hearing on the charge of bad checks and three counts of theft by deception. Titusville police filed the charges for an incident on Dec. 21, 2012. He was released on his own recognizance.

-Alvin B. Dyne, 58, of Spartansburg, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was bound over to the next term of court on charges of use and possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of driving under the influence and three summary charges. Pennsylvania State Police filed the charges for an incident on Jan. 19 in Titusville. He was released on his own recognizance.



Linesville Area

Magisterial District Judge

-Aaron M. Braden, 29, of 103 Ontario Street, Edinboro, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Rita Marwood and bound over to the next term of court on the charge of receiving stolen property. Pennsylvania State Police filed the charge for an incident on Feb. 27 in Conneautville. He was committed to Crawford County Prison on $10,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 18.

-Barbara J. Sackett, 44, of 11210 State Route 618, Conneaut Lake, was held for a preliminary hearing and bound over to the next term of court on charges of retail theft and criminal conspiracy. Pennsylvania State Police filed the charges for an incident on Dec. 19, 2012, in North Shenango Township. She was released on her own recognizance.

-Jay M. Longo, 25, of 10583 Fauncetown Road, Guys Mills, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was bound over to the next term of court on the charge of retail theft. Pennsylvania State Police filed the charge for an incident on Dec. 19, 2012, in North Shenango Township. He was released on his own recognizance.



Crashes

State Police

-Ryan M. Hickam, 32, of Meadville, was traveling east on Route 198 in Hayfield Township when he answered a text message and lost control of his vehicle at 3 a.m. March 4, according to state police. He reportedly struck a power pole along the north side of Route 198 and fled the scene on foot into a wooded area. He was located uninjured approximately a mile and a half from the scene, police said. DUI charges pending.

-Denise R. Carney, 32, of Spartansburg, was traveling east on Canadohta Lake Road in Sparta Township when she slowed for a group of pedestrians and lost control of her vehicle at 9:07 a.m. March 2, according to state police. Her vehicle reportedly left the roadway and hit an embankment. She was taken to UPMC Hamot for minor injuries, police said.

-Trudy M. Phelps, 42, of Linesville, was traveling west on State Route 6 in Conneaut Township when another vehicle pulled out into the intersection from Partch Road at 11:05 p.m. March 4, according to state police. She reportedly applied her brakes and lost control of her vehicle on loose gravel. Her vehicle traveled sideways off the road and struck large rocks at the end of a driveway before continuing down an embankment and rolling onto its roof, police said. She sustained minor injuries.

-Ronald A. Laudenslager, 56, of Pataskala, Ohio, was stopped in the southbound lane of Route 8 in front of Wal-Mart in Oil Creek Township when he was distracted and hit the gas pedal, impacting the vehicle of Timothy Miller of Albion at 12:40 p.m. March 3, according to state police. Upon impact, Miller’s vehicle reportedly struck the vehicle of Thomas Irwin of Union City. Miller was treated at Titusville Hospital for minor injuries, police said. His vehicle was towed from the scene by Shambaugh’s Towing. Hydetown Fire Department assisted on scene. No other injuries were reported.

-Lance A. Aylsworth, 40, of Linesville, was stopped at a stop sign facing east on State Route 198 at its intersection with Route 18 at 3:12 p.m. on March 2 when he proceeded to pull into the intersection and attempt to make a left turn and struck an oncoming vehicle being driven by Ronald J. Kapala, 68, of Albion. There were no injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.



Crimes

State Police

-Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an alleged theft by deception that occurred at Wal-Mart in Oil Creek Township at 5 p.m. Feb. 28. An undisclosed male suspect reportedly returned three counterfeit items for approximately $200 in cash. No further details were released.

-Someone removed four to five bags of cans from a property on Espy Road, North Shenango Township, sometime between 7 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. on March 1.

-Someone entered a Gherton Road, Summit Township, residence through an unlocked door between 1 and 9:45 a.m. on March 1 and dumped bags of garbage stored inside the home within a bedroom. Four tires on the victim’s vehicle were also flattened.

-Someone broke into a cottage on Woodland Road, North Shenango Township, sometime between Dec. 20 and March 2 and took a DVD player and numerous bottles of alcohol. Anyone with information is asked to contact Meadville state police at 332-6911.
