Magisterial District Judge

-William M. Sutter, 41, of Meadville, waived his right to a preliminary hearing June 21 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Rossi on Vernon Township Police Department charges of one count each of retail theft and public drunkenness for an incident May 8 and was released on his own recognizance.


State Police

-Mary L. Morton, 50, of Springboro, was driving north on Highway 18 in Spring Township at 10:32 a.m. June 23 when she lost control of her vehicle after swerving to avoid an oncoming vehicle, causing her vehicle to travel into a ditch on the road’s east side. Morton and one of her passengers, a 15-year-old Springboro girl, were both wearing seatbelts and reportedly sustained minor injuries.

-Linda K. Halfast, 60, of Titusville, was driving south on Route 8 in Centerville at 12:11 a.m. June 24 when she reportedly fell asleep and lost control of her vehicle, causing it to travel off the road, clip a utility pole and hit a mailbox then travel into a yard and over a large stump, becoming airborne for a short distance before landing in a driveway, traveling through a row of hedges, hitting a wooden fence and spinning into another yard. Halfast was wearing a seatbelt, and sustained minor injuries.


State Police

-Charges including simple assault and terroristic threats are pending against a 45-year-old Union City-area man after he allegedly choked, pushed and kicked a 32-year-old woman in the back at a Little Cooley Road, Bloomfield Township location sometime between 11:30 a.m. and noon June 13.

-An identified suspect allegedly stole personal checks from a 23-year-old Centerville woman’s residence and used them to make $1,386.57 in unauthorized purchases at various stores in Corry and Titusville between April 25 and June 14.
