Crimes
State Police
- A 28-year-old Townville female was pushed and shoved by a 29-year-old Townville man during a domestic argument in Townville about 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
- A mailbox on North Wayland Road in East Mead Township was struck by a known person who then fled the scene June 23 at 2:30 p.m.
- Somebody broke into a large box van at a North Mosiertown Road residence between 1 and 6 a.m. June 26 and stole a large Slush Puppy machine, a Hobart mixer with attachments, and a Bun coffee machine.
- A Venango Township man reported somebody vandalized his mailbox between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. June 26 and then fled the scene.
- Firewood was stolen from the home of a Westford man sometime between 8 a.m. June 18 and 3:30 p.m. June 26. Anyone with information is asked to contact PSP at 332-6911.
- Culvert pipe and landscaping rocks were stolen from a South Shenango Township residence about 9 p.m. June 26. Anyone with information is asked to contact PSP at 332-6911.
- An 18-year-old Linesville man was harassed about 1 p.m. June 25 in front of a Linesville restaurant when a 22-year-old Linesville man punched him in the face and fled the scene.
- A burglary and theft was reported at a Troy Township store between 5:30 p.m. June 21 and 8:30 a.m. June 22 and again between 5:30 p.m. June 25 and 12:30 a.m. June 26. During the first burglary, approximately $20 in cash was stolen. Various candy valued at approximately $40 was stolen during the second burglary. - Thieves stole various items valued at $650 from a Rome Township resident between 8:30 a.m. June 12 and 9 a.m. June 26. Stolen were two gas well 5-inch pipe wrenches valued at $600 and a Kenmore washer valued at $50.
- Charges are pending against a 30-year-old Conneaut Lake man and a 23-year-old Meadville woman after the two allegedly harassed each other at a Summit Township residence between June 16 and 18.
- Three outdoor archery targets, valued at $70 each, were stolen from a Sparta Township club sometime between 3 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday.
- Someone stole a Springboro man’s wallet after he left it at Washington Township, Erie County, convenience store at 10 p.m. Friday.
- Charges are pending against an identified suspect for allegedly harassing a Springboro woman at 2:36 a.m. Saturday.
- Charges are pending against a 27-year-old Meadville woman and a 23-year-old Meadville man after the two were allegedly involved in a physical altercation at a West Mead Township location at 5:58 a.m. Sunday.
- Charges are pending against a 32-year-old Carlton man after he was allegedly found to be driving under the influence at a Greenwood Township location at 2:57 a.m. Sunday.
Crashes
State Police
- Melissa C. Mazzei, 28, of Washington, D.C., wasn’t injured in a single-vehicle crash about 4:45 p.m. Sunday in Cussewago Township. Mazzei was traveling south in the right lane of Interstate 79 when her vehicle lost traction on the roadway. The vehicle began to spin in a southeasterly direction into the median, then rolled onto the driver’s side and slid to a rest in the median.
- Kenneth D. Powers, 52, of East Bethany, N.Y., wasn’t injured in a two-car crash on Interstate 79 in Cussewago Township at 1:30 a.m. June 24. Powers was driving north on the interstate when his car struck a sport utility vehicle that was disabled previously and parked along the berm. Powers was wearing a seatbelt.
- There was a minor injury in a two-truck crash in Bloomfield Township at 10:45 p.m. June 21. A 1994 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with an unidentified driver was headed north on Lakeview Drive. As the truck turned left onto Mount Pleasant Road it struck a truck, driven by Kyle W. Barnett, 21, of Waterford, that was traveling on Mount Pleasant Road. The unidentified driver then fled the scene, headed west on Mount Pleasant Road. Barnett had minor injuries and wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.
- Someone was driving north on Mosiertown Road in Hayfield Township at 6:29 p.m. Friday when he or she lost control of the vehicle, causing it to travel off the road and strike a mailbox post. The driver fled the scene.
- Michelle Ding, 26, of Broomall, was driving south on Interstate 79 in Vernon Township around 5:30 a.m. Saturday when she lost control of her vehicle, causing it to travel off the road and strike a construction sign and a guide rail. There were no injuries.
- Daniel S. Taylor, 66, of Meadville, was driving west on Alden Street in West Mead Township at 12:35 p.m. Saturday when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to travel off the road and strike an embankment. Taylor was reportedly transported to Meadville Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries.
- David M. Matteson, 56, of Hartstown, was driving north on Route 600 in Greenwood Township at 5 a.m. Saturday when he lost control of his vehicle while attempting to avoid a deer, causing the vehicle to travel off the road, strike a ditch and roll over. Matteson reportedly sustained minor injuries.
- Theron D. Foringer, 18, of Springboro, was driving on Grange Center Road in Hayfield Township at 7:31 a.m. Sunday when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to strike a ditch. Foringer and two passengers, both minors, reportedly sustained minor injuries. Charges are pending.
Crashes
Meadville Police
- A pickup truck driven by Joseph Henry Kaye, 57, of 17503 Williams Road, Meadville, was southbound on Water Street approximately 150 feet south of Poplar Street on June 26 at 2:08 p.m. At the same time, a pickup truck driven by Ross D. Steadman, 53, of 32883 State Highway 408, Townville, was northbound on Water Street. Each of the vehicles hit the other’s driver’s side mirror. Both mirrors were damaged. Kaye, who was struck by a mirror and broken glass, received cuts to his face.

Meadville Police
- Someone damaged a screen door at a Poplar Street pizza shop between 1:30 and 8 a.m. June 26, reached inside and stole a large pickle jar containing $150 in change.
- A repaired fish tank that was sitting on a pallet on the east side of Brunot & Hollabaugh on North Street was removed by an unidentified individual June 25 between 12:45 and 2 p.m. The missing aquarium is a 26-gallon hexagon-shaped tank with brown wood base and plastic lid.
- A sport utility vehicle was entered while it was parked in front of 756 Chestnut St. between 7 p.m. June 25 and 9:15 a.m. June 26 and a purse was removed.
- A known individual attempted to steal several items from Quality Fresh Market at the Downtown Mall on June 24 at 9:40 a.m.
- Someone damaged a sign in front of a Park Avenue business sometime between 10 p.m. June 17 and 6 a.m. June 18.
- A wallet, sunglasses and cell phone charger were stolen from a vehicle parked at an Arch Street location between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. Wednesday.
- Prescription drugs were stolen from a Spring Street residence on Thursday.
- Someone stole $67.64 worth of gasoline from a North Street convenience store around 10:53 p.m. Saturday.
- Someone used a roll of fake coins for a purchase at a Center Street grocery store at 9:41 p.m. Saturday.
Sentences
Sentenced recently by Crawford County Court of Common Pleas Judge John Spataro were:
- Clair A. Bissell, 945 E. 38th St., Erie, criminal mischief, pay costs, restitution, $200 fine, probation for three months.
- Timothy S. Gray, 17091 Fink Road, Apt. 1, Centerville, possession of a controlled substance, pay costs, $200 fine, serve 12 months probation followed by two months on house arrest and electronic monitoring.
- Stephanie M. Haney, 16 Orangeville Road, Greenville, possession of a controlled substance, pay costs, $200 fine, serve eight months probation.
- Edward M. Kuziak, 27890 Miller Station Road, Cambridge Springs, harassment, pay costs, $200 fine, serve three months probation with 15 days credit.
- Marco D. Munno, 11031 Star Route Estates, Lot 38, Meadville, possession of a controlled substance, pay costs, $200 fine, serve nine months to 12 months in county jail followed by five months probation.
