State Police
n Retail theft charges are pending against a 16-year-old Meadville boy and a 14-year-old Meadville girl for attempting to steal three video games, valued at a total of $59.46, from a Conneaut Lake Road, Vernon Township department store at around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Saegertown Area
Magisterial District Judge
n Melissa A. Enders, 35, of 25211 Highway 27 Apt. 46, Meadville, waived her right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Lincoln S. Zilhaver on Pennsylvania State Police charges of two counts of driving under the influence and one summary traffic offense for an incident Feb. 16 and was released on her own recognizance.
Crashes
State Police
n Vernon H. Nelson, 59, of Stoystown, was driving south on Interstate 79 in Cussewago Township around 10:35 a.m. Sunday when he braked his vehicle but was unable to avoid striking a deer that had run onto the road. Nelson’s vehicle was subsequently struck from behind by a vehicle being driven by James Vogt, 58, of Erie. Both vehicles traveled off the road, down an embankment and rolled over. Vogt and his passenger, Sally A. Vogt, 58, of Erie, and Nelson and two of his passengers, William R. Balya, 80, of Schellsburg, and Debbie Lou Nelson, 64, of
Stoystown, each reportedly sustained minor injuries. Another of Nelson’s passengers, H. Lucille Balya, 75, of Schellsburg, reportedly sustained moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Hamot Medical Center in Erie for treatment.
n Jessica L. DeArment, 22, of Meadville, was traveling east on Franklin Pike in West Mead Township around 12:44 a.m. Monday when she failed to yield the right of way, entered the intersection and struck a vehicle being driven north on Liberty Street by Rebecca Stallard, 32, of Meadville. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts; neither sustained injuries.

n Phyllis A. Stein-Kemppi, 48, of 462 Willow St. Apt. A, Meadville, waived her right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Michael Rossi on Vernon Township Police Department charges of two counts of driving under the influence and five summary traffic offenses for an incident Jan. 9 and was released on her own recognizance.

Foster, 20025 Eddy St., Meadville, DUI, pay costs, $1,500 fine, serve intermediate probation for six months with 199 days credit; serve 54 months intermediate probation with first four months on house arrest and electronic monitoring; driving while operating privilege was suspended, pay $1,000 fine, serve 90 days in jail; possession of drug paraphernalia, pay $250 fine.

n Herman E. Brocklehurst, 48, of 1318 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville, waived his right to a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Rita Marwood and was bound over to the next term of court on charges of reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. Pennsylvania State Police filed the charges for an incident Jan. 28 in Conneaut Township. He was released on his own recognizance.

n Jason E. Kent of 11 Maple St., Union City, waived his right to a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Amy Nicols and was bound over to the next term of court on charges of driving under the influence and three summary counts. Pennsyl-vania State Police filed the charges for an incident Feb. 4 in Bloomfield Township. He was released on his own recognizance.
n Brian L. Dittman, 35, of 15609 Dutch St., Centerville, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was bound over to the next term of court on charges of DUI and four summary counts. State police filed the charges for an incident Jan. 4 in Hydetown. He was released on his own recognizance.
n Richard L. Rodgers, 42, of 43091 Gilson Ridge Road, Titusville, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was bound over to the next term of court on charges of DUI and three summary counts. Titusville Police Department filed the charges for an incident Feb. 23. He was released on his own recognizance.
n Teresa Simmons-Vroman, 33, of 419 S. Drake St., Titusville, waived her right to a preliminary hearing and was bound over to the next term of court on charges of DUI and two summary counts. City police filed the charges for an incident Feb. 17. She was released on hers own recognizance.
n Mackenzie Currier, 19, of 4002 Gilson St., Centerville, was arraigned on city police charges of one count each of criminal trespass and loitering/ prowling at night for an incident July 9, 2007, and was committed to Crawford County jail, Saeger-town, in lieu of $5,000 bond. Currier preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 8 at 10 a.m.
n Lewin A. Miller, 22, of 106-10 223rd St., Queens Village, N.Y., was arraigned Monday on city police charges of one count each of possession of a controlled substance and manufacture of a controlled substance for an incident March 30 and was committed to jail in lieu of $10,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 8 at 2 p.m.
n Dwight E. Rey, 21, of 110-06 169th St., Jamaica, N.Y., was arraigned Monday on city police charges of one count each of possession of a controlled substance and manufacture of a controlled substance for an incident March 30 and was committed to jail in lieu of $10,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 8 at 2 p.m.
n Donovan C. Nelson, 21, of 166-40 89th Ave. 7H, Jamaica, N.Y., was arraigned Monday on city police charges of one count each of possession of a controlled substance and manufacture of a controlled substance for an incident March 30 and was committed to jail in lieu of $10,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 8 at 2 p.m.

Magisterial District Judge
n William Kuhn, 31, of 5833 U.S. Highway 322, Hartstown, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael Rossi on charges of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and theft by deception. Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General filed the charges for an incident Dec. 27, 2004, in Wayne Township. He was released on $25,000 unsecured bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled April 8.
n Cheryl A. Kralj, 46, of 101 Asbury Manor East, Mead-ville, waived her right to a preliminary hearing on Pennsylv-ania State Police charges of two counts of driving under the influence and one summary traffic offense for an incident Feb. 12 and was released on her own recognizance.
n Raymond L. Dade, 57, address listed as Crawford County jail, Saegertown, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Vernon Township Police Department charges of five counts of criminal conspiracy and one count each of retail theft, access device fraud, theft from a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property and theft by deception for an incident Nov. 28, 2007, and was recommitted to the jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

City Police
n A car driven by Darlene A. Haylett, 46, of 7061/2 N. Cottage St., Meadville, was traveling south on Park Avenue approaching Pine Street on March 20 at 12:38 p.m. A pickup truck driven by Lydia Sommers, 61, of 22389 Creveling Road, Cochranton, was headed east on Pine and stopped at a traffic light at the Park Avenue intersection. As Sommers began through the intersection on a green signal, Haylett entered the intersection on a red light and collided with Sommer’s vehicle.
n A car driven by Kathie J. Gelvin, 58, of 220 Cranberry Road, Sandy Lake, was traveling north on Park Avenue at the intersection of North Street when it struck a car driven by Jennie Lyn Foster, 30, of 20152 Greer Road, Saegert-own, which was traveling west on North Street on March 19 at 2:40 p.m. Police report it was raining and the roads were wet.
n A sport utility vehicle owned by Kayla S. Baker of 7001/2 N. Grant St., Meadville, was unoccupied and legally parked facing south on North Grant Street March 12 at 5:09 a.m. A truck owned by Northland Refuse Corp. and driven by Leslie Alan Wills, 37, of 18592 Oak Drive, Saegertown, was traveling east on Randolph Lane and attempting to turn right onto North Grant when it slipped on the snowy roadway and struck the SUV, causing damage to the driver’s side rear.

n Someone broke open a soda vending machine at a Route 322, Vernon Township shopping plaza sometime between Dec. 10, 2007, and Monday.
n Two identified juveniles broke two windows at a Highway 86, Woodcock Township children’s home at 1:48 a.m. Monday.
n Someone broke into a Cochranton Road, West Mead Township auto retailer at 4:02 a.m. Monday.
Saegertown Area
Magisterial District Judge
n Brenda M. Starr, 44, of 117 High St., Cambridge Springs, pleaded guilty before Magisterial District Judge Lincoln Zilhaver to a charge of false identification to law enforcement. Cambridge Springs Police Department filed the charge for an incident Feb. 15. She was placed on 12 months probation in lieu of fines and costs. A charge of public drunkenness was withdrawn in exchange for the plea.
n Monica M. Ray, 48, of 1151 W. Seventh St., Apt. 2, Erie, waived her right to a preliminary hearing and was bound over to the next term of court on charges of driving under the influence and a summary count. Pennsylvania State Police filed the charges for an incident March 1. She was released on her own recognizance.
