What is it about Pittsburgh….?

What is it about Pittsburgh?

I guess it is that maybe 90% of the trips I have made to Pittsburgh have been cancer related.

I guess that 85% of those times were for me and 100% of those times, I got car sick.

Yes, you read it right, car sick.

I have never been a great traveler and according to my husband some of my best travel is when I am asleep and sleep is what I normally do when I am traveling and not driving, of course.

Traditionally, I have my trusty sheet blanket (which in adult terms would be some sort of security blanket), my pillow and popcorn to ease any nausea.

I can normally fall asleep shortly after getting on 79 and waking after we are on 279 heading towards downtown Pittsburgh although if there is any other awake time during that period, it means stop as I need to find facilities and now.

I find that my pulse increases and I can feel the pounding in my chest as we make that last turn towards the hospital.

I am not concerned about the appointment so much as just being back in that environment.

I would prefer a root canal but will do my duty and take care of me and be my own advocate despite that I want to get back in the car and fly home.

I need to be a part of my care and I need to do what is right and I need to be proactive. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, and then the appointment is over, I thought I could, I thought I could , I thought I could and back to sleep I go…. See you in Meadville.
