John Charles Shaw

NEW KENSINGTON — John Charles Shaw, 74, of New Kensington, and formerly of Meadville, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008.

He was the former husband of Barbara Shaw; and loving father of Sherry Fish (Jim), Cindy Shaw (Richard Genszler), John Shaw (Patricia) and Mary Shaw (David Papanek). He is also survived by six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

He was the husband to second wife, Virginia Shaw (Kunsak); and stepfather to Chris Kunsak, the late Beth (Kunsak) Hill, Carol (Kunsak) Gable, and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Earl Shaw of Charleston, S.C.; and a niece and nephew.

Born Feb. 20, 1934, John was an avid golfer and after a 30-year career on the P≤ railroad, he spent his retirement working with the Golf Channel and Golf Cart Express on many tournaments around the country. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.

John was a voracious reader and as a result spent extensive time at his local library. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Peoples Library, 880 Barnes St., New Kensington, Pa. 15068.

Memorial services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at Allegheny Presbyterian Church, 1900 Route 356, Leechburg.

Memorial services will be conducted in Meadville at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Auer Cremation Services of Pennsylvania Inc., 4100 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg.
