COCHRANTON — Menno E. Sommers, 88, of Cochranton went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, surrounded by his family.

Born on Aug. 16, 1922, in Middle Branch, Ohio, he was a son of the late Eli I and Sarah (Schrock) Sommers. On March 27, 1945, he married Esther Zook, who survives.

Menno was a retired minister and attended the Plainview Mennonite Church, Guys Mills. He had a love of the woods, having retired as a logger after 36 years of logging.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years; four sons, Mervin Sommers and his wife, Lois, of Jonesville, Mich., Ervin Sommers of Polk, Loren Sommers and his wife, Esther, of Hartville, Ohio, and Willis Sommers and his wife, Deann, of Cochranton; one daughter, Beulah Reynolds and her husband, Maurice, of Meadville; two sisters, Sarah Lockridge and her husband, Bob, of Okeechobee, Fla., and Susan Turner and her husband, Ervil, of Montgomery, Ala.; 17 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Ida Mae Sommers; a son, Raymond Sommers; and five brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pleasantview Mennonite Church, County Line Road, Cochranton, with Homer Zook officiating.

The interment will follow at the Pleasantview Mennonite Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
