Ronald E. Kessler, 62, of Meadville passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 10, 1951, in Meadville, a son of the late Richard Kessler and Beatrice Cady McCray.
He served the City of Meadville for 21 years as a city fireman, with the rank of captain. He also was a self-employed contractor. He was a member of New Beginnings Church of God, Meadville.
He was a member of Taylor Hose, the Meadville Italian Civic Club (ICC), Fraternal Order of Eagles, Meadville Aerie 429, Vernon Central Fire Company, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville, and American Legion Post 111. He enjoyed carpentry work and enjoyed playing pool and darts. He especially liked riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by two daughters, Renee Delaney of Meadville and Becky Gallagher and her husband, Mark, of Vidor, Texas; three grandchildren — a grandson, Michael Frantz, and two granddaughters, Meggan Gallagher and Emily Gallagher; two sisters, Patricia Kneubehl of Springboro and Kathy Fry and her husband, David, of Greenville; four brothers, Rick Cady of Guys Mills, Wayne Kessler and his wife, Patty, of Meadville, and Terry Kessler of Ohio and Patrick Cady. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Cady.
Family and friends may call on Monday from 1 to 4 p.m. and all are welcome to attend the funeral service at 4 at New Beginnings Church of God, 13226 Leslie Road, Meadville, with Pastor Temple Jarrell officiating.
