SPARTANSBURG — Thelma E. Pier, 92, of Spartansburg, went to be with the Lord at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Golden Living Center of Titusville where she has been a resident since Dec. 17, 2010.

Mrs. Pier was born Oct. 20, 1920, in Titusville, the daughter of the late Arvin Edwards and Opal Miller Edwards. She graduated from Titusville High School in 1936. She also graduated from Jamestown Business School.

She served as tax collector for Rome Township, Crawford County, for more than 19 years.

Mrs. Pier was a member of White Oak United Methodist Church. She was a former member of Hydetown and Spartansburg granges and Diamond Homemakers. She enjoyed crocheting and cooking.

 Survivors include her husband of almost 60 years, Donald J. Pier, of Spartansburg, whom she married July 12, 1953, at White Oak United Church; a daughter, Tracie McClintock and her husband, Randy, of Diamond; a son, Gary Pier of Oregon; four grandchildren including Lacey Stokes and her husband, John, C.J. McClintock, Bodey McClintock, and Jason Pier and his wife, Chris; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Ernest Edwards and his wife, Margaret, of Titusville; two nieces and a nephew.

Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home, Inc., 203 E. Main St., Titusville. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. when the funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Jerry Gray, pastor of White Oak United Methodist Church.

Interment will be in Union Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions can be made to White Oak United Methodist Church or to Golden Living Center (Residents Activities Fund), 81 Dillon Drive, Titusville, Pa. 16354.
