Kenneth J. Arbuckle

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Kenneth J. Arbuckle, 90, formerly of Carlton Road, Mill Creek Township, Sandy Lake, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, in San Angelo, Texas, of natural causes.

Born May 8, 1922, in Rouseville, he was a son of Daniel J. and Belva Mae Cochran Arbuckle.

Mr. Arbuckle was a 1940 graduate of the former Sheakleyville High School. In early years he worked at Westinghouse in Meadville, Chicago Bridge and Iron, Greenville, and Sandy Lake Implement. He retired from McCroskey Tool Company of Meadville in 1983 after 17 years as a machinist.

He was an active long-time member of New Lebanon Community Church where he served on the church council, sang in the choir and led the music in Sunday school for many years.

Kenny loved woodworking and made keepsakes for family and friends over the years. He loved things mechanical, enjoyed tinkering and played the role of handyman for many. Also, for more than 30 years he served as a caretaker for New Lebanon Cemetery.

He was a decorated, including four Bronze Stars, U.S. Army World War II veteran and took part in four major campaigns where he hauled military personnel and supplies by truck into combat zones on the front lines, many times under blackout conditions over all types of terrain.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Ruth E. Ebbert, whom he married Sept. 13, 1947, now residing in San Angelo; two daughters, Linda Miller and husband, Steven, of Rocky Face, Ga., and Darlene Hamilton and husband, Michael, of Mertzon, Texas; two sons, Larry R. Arbuckle and wife, Kettisha, of Copper Canyon, Texas, and Daniel F. Arbuckle and wife, Ruth, of Fairport, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lyle R. Arbuckle and wife, Gail, of Hadley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Kenneth Chester (KC) Groves; a sister, Kathleen Voorhies; and a brother, George Eugene Arbuckle.

Memorial contributions may be made to New Lebanon Community Church, 4166 Mercer St., Sandy Lake, Pa. 16145.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro.

The funeral and committal service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Lebanon Community Church, with pastor, the Rev. Dr. Richard C. Steinlechner officiating.

Interment will be in New Lebanon Cemetery, Mill Creek Township.
