Marian E. Conaway, 85, formerly of Troy Center Road, Centerville, died at 5:40 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at Rolling Fields Nursing Home in Conneautville.
Mrs. Conaway was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Oil City, to the late Harry and Mary Moore Nuhfer. She married Raymond J. Conaway on June 14, 1947. He preceded her in death Aug. 27, 1995.
She was a graduate of Oil City High School, attended Clarion College and received her teaching degree from Edinboro College in 1960.
Mrs. Conaway was a first grade teacher for 35 years at Townville Elementary School and retired from Maplewood School District after 40 years of teaching.
She was a member of Diamond Evangelical United Methodist Church and the Townville Women’s Club.
Mrs. Conaway loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed quilting and gardening.
She is survived by two sons, John M. Conaway and wife, Colleen, of Worthington, and James K. Conaway and wife, Laura, of Guys Mills; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Thomas H. Nuhfer and wife, Jacqueline, of Edinboro; a sister, Judy McPherson of Centerville; brother-in-law, Paul Burnett of Centerville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Conaway was preceded in death by a son, Joseph R. Conaway; and a sister, Margaret Burnett.
Friends may call at Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. with the service to follow.
Interment will be in Troy Center Cemetery.
