HERNANDO, Fla. —
Donald C. Hopf, 73, of Hernando, Fla., passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, surrounded by his loving family at Hospice of Citrus County.
Donald was born March 24, 1939, in Meadville, to Carl and Nellie Hopf.
He began his career with The Meadville Tribune and went on to become the publisher of several daily newspapers in Ohio and Pennsylvania and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He and his wife retired to Hernando in 2000 from Pennsylvania.
He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and an avid fisherman. Donald will be remembered most for his inexpressible love for his family, especially his love for his wife of 49 years, “Rozy.” His legacy is one of compassion and strength, he will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Rosanne Marceca Hopf; sons, Kurtis Hopf and his wife, Lynn, of Merritt Island Fla., and Kraig Hopf and his wife, Bobbie Jo Hopf, of Raleigh N.C.; his beloved grandchildren, Kristina and Alex; his brother and sister-in-law, Owen and Angel Quantz; a niece and nephew; and several cousins.
An interment will be held at St. Agatha’s Cemetery in Meadville at a later date.
